Chadar Trek LADAKH VALLEY

Lets paint a mental picture for this, its -20 degree Celsius & still its incredibly sunny, a small group of young children are going to school, traversing what is the most difficult journey taken to reach the schools anywhere in the world. They are traveling on frozen ice, in minimal clothing to cover against bone-freezing cold. REPORT TO LEH , ACCLIMATIZATION
Day 1

Report at leh and spend the whole day acclimatizing

REST
Day 2

Today is time to relax and getting used to the altitude you also have time to explore to monasteries palaces in and around Leh

MEDICAL CHECK UP AT LEH HOSPITAL
Day 3

Today is time for medical check up , every trekker must be medically fit for trek

DRIVE TO CHILLING AND THEN TREK DOWN TO CHADAR - FIRST CAMP SITE AT TILAT SUMDO ( 1 TO 2 HOURS )
Day 4

Drive from Leh to chilling through Nimmu , the confluence of indus and zanskar A steep descent to reach chadar trek and trek to other side to the camp site at tilat sumdo practice walking on the river

TREK FROM TILAT SUMDO TO SHINGRA KOMA ( 6 TO 7 HOURS )
Day 5

Start trekking from Tilat sumdo at 9 am the first full day trek on chadar . straight path on the river towards shingra koma site stop in between for lunch at 1 pm , level walk after lunch for 2 hours to reach shingra koma campsite . camp in tents at shingra koma for the night

TREK FROM SHINGRA KOMA TO TIBB ( 7 TO 8 HOURS )
Day 6

Start trekking from shingra koma at 8 am towards Tibb 15 kms away lunch at mid day around noon , continue on towards the Tibb camp on the right side of river camp in tents at Tibb for the night

TREK FROM TIBB TO NERAK ( 6 TO 7 HOURS )
Day 7

Start trekking from Tibb at 9 am towards Nerak level walks for 5 hours to reach the lunch spot after lunch cross the acclaimed frozen waterfall on the way to Nerak overnight stay in tents at Nerak

TREK FROM NERAK TO TILAT SUMDO
Day 8

Retrace the trek back towards Tilat sumdo after reaching Tilat sumdo

TREK FROM TILAT SUMDO TO BACK LEH
Day 9

After reaching Tilat sumdo and lunch , drive back to Leh overnight stay at guest house

BUFFER DAY IN LEH
Day 10

Today is Buffer day for trek, relax and enjoy the day

Trek Cost:
INR 24,500 per trekker
From Leh to Leh
INR 27,500 per trekker for Lingshed Monastery (2 days extra)
From Leh to Leh
In case the buffer day is required on Chadar due to weather conditions, an extra payment of INR 3000 will be required to be made to the trek leader
Trek cost includes:

Transfer in private vehicle between Leh and Nerak
Stay in basic guest house in Leh on Day 1 and Day 8
Good quality tents, sleeping bags, carry mats and crampons (if and where required). Tented accommodation will be on double / triple sharing basis.
Safety equipment â€“ first aid kit, stretcher, pulsoximeter, portable oxygen cylinders (where required, for use in case of emergencies only)
All vegetarian meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner on all trek days) for the trek duration (from Tilat Sumdo onward till end of trek)
WildBoots trek leader, guide, cook and camp helpers and horses / mules / porters as may be required for carrying the equipment
Taxes, permits, fees and other charges imposed by local authorities, national parks, etc.

Trek cost does not include:

Environmental & Chadar trek fees as levied by LAHDC
Transport costs to reach Leh. Airport transfers from / to guest house.
Meals, snacks, mineral water, telephone, tips and other incidental expenses during travel to and from base camp of the trek
Transportation for sightseeing in and around Leh before / after the trek. Transport can be arranged but will be charged separately as per cost incurred.
Trekkers are expected to trek carrying their own backpack. Those intending to trek without backpacks or carrying only a day-pack and offloading their backpacks onto the horses / mules will have to bear an additional cost.
Cost of doctors, medical officers. WildBoots trek leaders are trained in First Aid to assist in case of medical emergencies.
Emergency evacuation related costs owing to medical emergencies or weather conditions.

Reporting Location:
Leh, Jammu & Kashmir

Leh is well connected by flight with all major cities in India. Travel by road to Leh in winters is not possible as the roads are closed due to snow.

Reporting Date & Time:
Day 1 Please plan on reaching Leh latest by 1 pm on Day 1. All trekkers will be given the Guest house details in advance where they need to report.

Please plan your return travel on Day 10 morning from Leh

What to bring
Please go through the list of the personal trekking gear you are expected to carry for the trek, high altitude trek preparation and more in the Information section.

Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council(LAHDC) intends to impose an Environmental fees and Chadar trek fees from the coming trekking season. The fees will be ~INR 300 (Environmental fees) and ~INR 2000 (Chadar trek fees) per trekker which will need to be paid on the spot by trekkers. Please note that this fees (~INR 2300) is to be paid directly by the trekkers and will be over and above the trek amount paid to WildBoots.
